Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure to watch the final graduate fashion show of the Shenkar Fashion Design Department. The results were breathtaking and I had to share them with you guys. Each and every one of the students worked day and night to sew, construct and design a collection of five garments for their final project. If you would like to buy these outstanding creations, you can actually do so in the Shenkar final exhibit on the 16th- 17th of July.
Without a doubt, the Kilian Kerner offsite Fashion Show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin was one of the surprising
highlights of the week. The collection was presented in a huge hall decorated with a middle-eastern vibe displaying vibrant colorful sweaters, dresses and suits. These designs are actually inspired by a time when the designer traveled to Dublin after he was hurt from someone he loved deeply and wanted to run away. When he was in Dublin, Kilian says he felt truly safe surrounded by the nature and got really inspired. As he says: "What does it mean being safe? What makes you feel safe? Because that is what Ireland somehow did to me."
Furthermore, there was an amazing after-show-party with lots of great gift bags and very nice people. I was also driven to the show with a special Fashion Week Mercedes Benz limo which was pretty awesome.

Recently, I launched an original, glamorous and unique collection of fascinators.
It was inspired by the contrast between the futuristic technological world and the feminine traditional fascinators created across history and worn by high society inspiring women such as art lover Isabella Blow, Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth, Cleopatra and more. I used a metallic constructed ribbon, Velvet, Silk, Peacock feathers, and Crystal beads to create these high Fashion, comfortable and beautiful headpieces. Furthermore, the headpieces were launched in the YLF 2014 fashion show in the Intercontinental hotel in Toronto, featured in the Toronto Star, and worn by hairstylist Cici Bear, Drag-Queen Darn Ahh, and Stylist Aziz Vivant.

For the first time in my life, a few days ago, I presented my first, one of a kind collection on the runway. I presented my designs through the youth program, Pact and The Make Den Studio. I truly got to fulfill a dream of mine and present my fascinator collection at an amazing charity fashion show with incredible and talented designers who I will introduce in the following posts. My collection is a one of a kind, hand sewed, elegant fascinator collection which I designed to be comfortable and very fashion forward. Before I show you all the wonderful moments from backstage, I would like to thank Irene Stickney, the Owner and Founder of the Make Den Studio and a person who is very dear to my heart. Irene supported me the whole way and gave me this amazing opportunity. I would also like tothank the Toronto Fashion Academy for the generous scholarship. The photo shoot of the collection and the pictures from the runway have not arrived yet, so until then, here is a sneak peak backstage of the YLF2014 Fashion Show:

Who said people in a wheelchair do not deserve to wear the latest trends and stay comfortable? A couple days ago, I had the wonderful opportunity go listen to the designer Izzy Camilleri, the journalist Jenne Beker, and the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) curator, Alexandra Palmer talk about the latest exhibit presenting high end fashion for peoplewho are in wheelchairs named "Fashion Follows Form." Izzy Camilleri, the talented and innovative designer started the first fashionable clothing line that is suited for people who sit in wheelchairs. The brand is named "IZ adaptive" and it has special features which help improve the quality of life of disabled peoples.
The sitting Bride and Groom.
When asked what is different in the clothing needs of people who are in wheelchairs versus standing people, Izzy gave a few interesting answers. I still do not understand how no one thought of these ideas before. First of all, a person in a wheelchair needs a different shape of clothing, or in other words, a completely different pattern. Throughout history, clothes were manufactured and sewed with a pattern for a standing body, but what no one ever realized that when a person is in a seated position, the measurements of our bodies are different. In addition, these people cannot get dressed by themselves and they need an attendant to dress them. As a result, they are usually limited in the types of clothes that they can buy. The main goal of purchasing clothes is not for the disabled person but to make it eassier for the attendant to dress the person.
I truly recommend coming to see this exhibition since it is different, fashionable, and very meaningful. The exhibit displays the designer's regular and adaptive collections, sketches and development process of the people in wheelchairs. All this is also shown with backround information about the construction of patterns in different times of history
