Interesting display of the designer Roni Kantor at the sale.
I interviewed designers Shani Mifanu and Anat Zamir who sold
their collections at the special Jaffa Port shoe salelast week which was called
“Shoefoony.” Here, lets check out what
the shoe and bag trends the designers are planning to display next summer and how
the designers start planning a new collection. Finally, we will find out what
their favorite item is in their respective collections.

Interview with Shani Mifano, Shoe Designer and Owner of
the shoe brand Imelda
How do you begin working on a collection? Is it by sketching,
seeing something that inspires you, or from a silhouette?
I start by picking the leather
and materials for the collection. After
that I ask myself where the woman who is wearing this shoe is going. Is the
shoe casual or elegant? Each shoe in the
collection has its’ own story. The woman
wearing it could be going to all kinds of different places such as a museum or for
instance, a night out with friends.
"The colors and the heel make it look elegant, but the leather and the double zipper give it a contrasting causality. "
What was your inspiration for the golden shoe above?
My inspiration for the Golden Shoe
was to combine between elegant and casual. The colors and the heel make it look elegant,
but the leather and the double zipper give it a contrasting causality. The
double zipper is my special touch that actually expresses my love for
accessories. You can wear this shoe
going to a variety of places rather than evening wear or every day wear. It is very urban.
Are there any trends you predict for the next season?
I did not design the next
collection yet, but I do think that the shoes next season will incorporate lots
of colors, metallic shades, and prints. Also,
I believe the long zipper trend will continue to be seen in collections.
Over all I am very impressed with
the entire collection, although I fancy the diagonal zipper snake skin flats
because they are different, urban, and very exact.

Interview with Anat Zamir, Purse Designer, .
How do you begin working on a collection? Is it by sketching, seeing something that
inspires you, or the silhouette?
I start by picking the materials
such as the fabric, the handles, and the locks. After that I design a few purses that I think
could suit the materials and are in the direction I envision for the
collection.
What was your inspiration for your collection?
My inspirations are from nature
and from art. I used prints and
materials that remind me of those topics.

Are there any trends you predict for the next season?
My prediction for the summer is
lots of colors, floral prints and prints inspired by nature.
Is there a purse you especially like? If so, which one is it and why do you like it?
Yes I like the collage model,
which I find has a special perfection to it. It has the right shape and size and it even
won the Accessories Globes Awards. I
have been developing this model for over two years since there are a lot of
people who want to purchase it.
