MAGIC WITH SCISSORS

As you already know, I called this blog “Fashion Scissors” so after a lot of thought, this week I decided to share with you how you can use a scissors in a more creative way.  By following my example, you will also be able to turn your plain cork bulletin boards, notebooks and shoeboxes into stylish bulletin boards, chic notebooks and really pretty jewelry boxes.  Recently, my own jewelry box became too full because I just love to buy lots of statement pieces.  This is one of my weaknesses.  Anyway, I needed a bigger jewelry box so I decided to take action.  I grabbed my scissors, glue, and some old magazines to perform magic with my scissors.

Choose the items or item you would like to recreate:
  • Plain soft or hard cover notebooks
  • A shoe box
  • Anything else you can think of is also fine.
Here is a list of things you will need for this project:
  • Scissors
  • All purpose glue
  • Some old magazines you do not mind cutting up.

Optional things you may want to use for this project:
  • Black marker
  • Bows, buttons, feathers, beads
  • Varnish (optional)
  • Any other decorative item you may be able to think of. for example a pack of earrings I got from my friend Sophie.
For your Personal Touch

Lets Create

  • CUT WITH YOUR SCISSORS
Choose magazines pictures, articles, or even logos you like and cut them out.  Make sure you have enough cut out materials to cover the space you are going to decorate.  The goal is to create a collage effect.

  • ORGANIZE AND PLAN BEFORE DOING
Organize the magazine cut outs and plan where you would like them to be glued on the surface you will be working on. Do this before beginning to use the glue.

  • GLUE
Glue everything in the place where you planned and be patient.  Wait for everything to dry properly.  I would strongly recommend that you use quicker drying glue if you do not have the patience to wait too long.

Time to Glue
  • THE FINAL TOUCH
If you want, now is the time to add any slogans, doodles, or patterns with your black marker or alternatively, glue on some feathers, rhinestones and/or bows to give a further personal touch.  Feel free to be as creative as you want.  Once you are done, I would also like to recommend that you add a top coat of varnish on your creation to keep it looking like new and prevent it from getting damaged.
