A TRUE FASHION ARTIST

Casablanca collection

Last week I had the pleasure of going to see a beautiful exhibition titled, “Lady with Daisies” which was held at the Holon Design Museum in Israel.  The museum presented the work of someone who I consider to be a genius fashion designer, Leah Gottlieb, the founder of “Gottex,” a worldwide bathing suit company.  Sadly, Leah Gottlieb passed away recently.  The collections that were exhibited were breathtaking.  The colorful materials and the delicate fabrics were gorgeous and the striking colors, rich textures, and variety of silhouettes were very inspiring.   I personally loved the garments and the ideas which inspired the collections presented.

Lady With The Daisies

Throughout Leah Gottlieb’s life, many different cultures and events stimulated her senses and allowed her to create her collections.  Some examples of the cultures that influenced her designs are her Egyptian and Casablanca collections.  In addition, the peace agreement between Israel and Jordan resulted in Leah Gottlieb creating a collection of angelic like beige and white embroidered garments.   . Moreover, Leah Gottlieb’s designs were also influenced by artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Chagall, and others.

I am truly pleased to share these pictures from the exhibition with you and hope that you can see what a great talent Leah Gottlieb was and how she contributed to the fashion world.   I also without a doubt was deeply inspired by Leah Gottlieb’s work and drew the following fashion sketches.

HOPE YOU ENJOYED IT
